 MSMEs are crucial in the development of India’s economy. The MSMEs has helped Indian economy through employment generation, boosting industrial output, and promoting entrepreneurial activity. Over the years, scholarly interest in MSMEs has expanded considerably within the domains of commerce, management, and economic development. Even with the growing body of literature, the overall structure and thematic development of MSME research in India remains limited. The present study aims to remove this gap by doing a systematic bibliometric review of MSME research in India. The study analyses publications indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection. A structured searching strategy and subject based filtering gave a final dataset of 301 journal articles. This was analysed using Bibliometrix through its web interface Biblioshiny. The analysis shows publication trends, influential journals, productive authors, collaboration patterns and conceptual development in MSME research. The results show a steady growth in interest towards MSME research in India, especially in recent years. Keyword co-occurrence analysis and thematic mapping show that SME performance and innovation are among dominant research areas, while entrepreneurship and firm growth represent the foundational areas. Emerging topics such as digital technology, fintech and sustainability highlight changing direction of MSME research. The study provides an overview of the MSME research landscape in India and points out possible areas for future research.
